i experience the world in words. my Maker strings His creation along before me sentence by sentence, and i find i simply must respond. how could i not, when He has crowned me with a new nature?
hopefully the words that follow bless you, but above all, may it be sweet incense before Him.
"but God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." [csb]
my God did not wait for me to clean myself up before He came to meet me. He saw me helpless, drowning in the mires of sin, and was moved to tender care.
"let all that i am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him." [nlt]
when my mind is torn in every direction and my heart clamors with the cares of this world, my soul bows before her Lord and finds sanctuary in the strong tower of His name. only in the stillness of the secret place is hope revived.
"charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised." [csb]
what we present to the world is not who we are. a charming demeanor is easy to hide behind, but it is no substitute for character. the story we tell with our clothes, hair, and makeup is quickly drowned out by the narrative we weave with our actions. only the fear of the Lord can harmonize the external with the internal and empower a fully authentic life.
"teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." [niv]
our time on earth was fixed before we were anything more than a thought in the mind of God. until we understand how briefly we pass through this earth, our hearts will be dulled with self-importance, and we will lack urgency in going about our Father's business.
"for freedom, Christ set us free. stand firm, then, and don't submit again to a yoke of slavery." [csb]
our Lord paid that terrible price for a purpose. when we excuse our sin in the name of rejecting legalistic perfectionism, content to whisper in the dark yet again that "God knows my heart," we rob ourselves of the freedom that is rightfully ours in the merits of Christ's sacrifice. let us no longer dishonor the spilled blood of God, and instead throw off the yoke of slavery and walk in the footsteps of our Savior.
